This vintage hatchet and hunting knife set were made in Boulder Colorado in the 60's. This popular set contained the F66 Hunting Knife and a matching hatchet sharing a connected leather sheath. The model 66, was the most popular deer hunting knife in the Western line-up. There were several versions of the Model 66 and this set includes the F66. The differences were in the handle materials. The knife is characterized by a deep belly and an upswept tip that makes it a great skinner. The blade length is 4½ inches, with an overall length of about 8.6 inches. The hatchet has an overall length of 10 3/4" and a head size of 4 1/4". Both pieces have handles made from alternating pieces of aluminum and black fiber discs with aluminum guards.
It appears that these were used and sharpened some through the years. There are still small remnants of the lacquer applied from the factory. This set does include the original sheath set and it is still in good condition.
This is a great piece of knife history to add to your collection.
