Description:
Following "La bohème," "Tosca," and "Madama Butterfly," Puccini's "Daughter of the West" premiered with great success on December 10, 1910, at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, and brought him international fame. In recent years, this work has gained increasing recognition as Puccini's break with the traditional framework of opera and his use of modern musical language. In this production, American soprano Emily Magee gives a dramatic performance of the title role, with tenor Roberto Aronica and baritone Claudio Sgura brilliantly flanking Magee as character actors. Conductor Yulai Valchuha is a brilliant conductor who was awarded the 2018 Best Conductor of the Italian Critics' Prize, the most prestigious in Italian critical circles. Naxos Japan
