Bruckner (1824-1896)
Description:
Carl Schuricht (1880-1967) and the Berlin Philharmonic live at the Salzburg Festival in 1964. Karajan, who was the chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic at the time, had performed Bruckner No. 7 with the Berlin Philharmonic one month prior to this concert, and had the orchestra in perfect condition for the upcoming concert with Schuricht. In the performance, the legato is superb, especially in the string section, the tempo is precise, the brass section is magnificent, and everything is perfect, as if this is what Bruckner was aiming for.
