This is the second release of the "Sony Classical Masterpieces Collection 1000". This is the first symphony recording by Seiji Ozawa from 1966, an irreplaceable record of his tenure as Music Director of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra from 1965 to 1969. The Toronto Symphony Orchestra responded well to the young Ozawa's earnest and vigorous music making, and gave a masterful performance of Berlioz's masterpiece, which is said to be the musicalization of Berlioz's own crazy and unrequited love, with searing passion.
