The Rev is the newest silhouette from the Swiss eyewear brand React. Like React's debut shades, Optray, Rev features the same auto-switching tint functionality but wraps it up with a full-frame design instead of Optray's half-frame silhouette. But it's not just a new profile. The Rev includes three-position adjustable arms, an adjustable nosepiece and 360-degree 'twistable' arm tips, allowing for an impressive level of fit customization.

If you're new to React, the major innovation you need to know about is the ability of the shades to turn infrared light into electrical impulses, automatically (and speedily) switching the lens tint between medium, dark and very dark states as conditions require. When you think of all the times on the bike when you get hit with full sun, full shade and all of the many moments in between, having your eyewear auto-switch tints makes perfect sense. It's safer - you see what's ahead sooner than with regular shades. And once you adapt to the switching, it's far more relaxing, given that your eyes and brain can offload a large part of the work required to adjust to different light conditions to your sunglasses.

Inside each pair of React sunglasses, a solar cell-powered chip turns observed infrared into electrical impulses, which are infused into the rear LCD panel, shifting tints as conditions demand. That process takes a blazing 0.1 seconds.
