The prose of Grazia Deledda, which is framed in the verismo also practiced by the writers Alessandro Manzoni or Luigi Capuana, unfolds with unusual beauty, and becomes a portrait of the life and society of a world that no longer exists. Grazia Deledda won the 1926 Nobel Prize for Literature.
