The Long Range Traverse can be found in beautiful Newfoundland Canada. Often marked as a truly remote, unmarked, and backcountry trail, this 35 km/ 22 miles point-to-point trail is not for the faint-hearted. The Long Range Traverse trail starts with a ferry ride over the beautiful Western Brook Pond, a fjord-like freshwater lake until it reaches the trailhead. From there, the adventure begins, and you are required to bring some solid navigational, compass, and map reading skills with you to be able to find your way. The Long Range Traverse hike starts with a long and mindboggling scramble up a steep cliff next to a beautiful but rumbling waterfall. The trail further passes along ancient granite cliffs, mesmerizing views over deep glacier-carved gorges, waterfalls, and lush green forests. The trail traverses through one of the many beautiful Canadian National Parks, Gros Morne National Park, designated a World Heritage Site since 1987. Besides the stunning views over the Long Range Mountains, you will also have the opportunity to come face-to-face with wildlife such as roaming moose and caribou. The trail's highlight is summiting Gros Morne Mountain, Newfoundland's second-highest peak at 807m, with mesmerizing views over the valleys. Taking in these views makes the challenging trail absolutely worthwhile.

Fun fact is that it is mandatory to go through an orientation briefing and pass a navigation/compass reading test before you are allowed to embark on the trail.
