[For Shorty, Bartók and Kodály were not only the composers of his native land, but also his actual teachers at the Budapest Conservatory, where he received his musical education. Shortly after signing a recording contract with Decca, Shorty made recordings of these two composers. The works recorded here are a valuable source of origin for his performances of Bartók and Kodály. *These are works by two major Hungarian composers from Scholty's native Hungary.
