EXACT recreations of the Apollo 11 USS HORNET crew recovery hat! We did a run a few years ago using chainstitch embroidery, which is correct for the Astronaut and VIP caps. Now we found a vintage embroidery machine to reproduce the exact lettering of the original HORNET crew-purchased hats. (Photo of our hat next to an original USS HORNET recovery crew hat) 

These are fitted hats, and have no elastic band or adjustment. Please see the size chart below, paying close attention to the measurements.  These hats run slightly loose when new. Order a size down if you prefer a tighter fit right out of the box. 

This cap is an exact replica of the crew hats that were purchased by sailors serving aboard the U.S.S. HORNET during the recovery of Apollo 11, July 24, 1969. 

Based on the original "Harvard" brand hats used by the US Navy for crew baseball caps, we have recreated these hats exactly like the originals including:

• Navy blue wool shell material
• Green underbrim
• White leather with red trim sweatband
• Sewn vent holes
• Machine Embroidered "U.S.S. HORNET APOLLO 11" wool patch, rough cut and sewn to the crown, exactly like originals
• Each hat comes with a "HORNET PLUS THREE" pin ($8.99 value)
