45 years after the release of his first leader album, four-time Grammy winner and master of jazz bass, Stanley Clarke's first new album in four years. His last album, "Up," was his first with Mack Avenue, a blockbuster that summed up his career up to that time, and at the same time showed the members and the future of shaping new trends in LA. The album featured over 20 artists, including Chick Corea and other greats, as well as artists of the same generation and Kamasi Washington, performing classic songs from the past such as "Brazilian Love Affair" and "School Days". The album was also a hot topic of conversation. In contrast, this year's concert featured a core of younger members. As has become familiar in recent years, Stanley tours with his own band and features some of the hottest young talent. This time, Stanley and his band are playing with a new generation of artists, who are once again making their presence felt not only in the traditional sense, but also in the contemporary LA scene. In 2015, while on tour in Europe, Stanley and his group were stranded in Paris due to the terrorist attacks in Tunisia. During their stay, the three members wrote songs, which were recorded a few days later in a recording studio in Belgium. In other words, the work had its origin in the coincidence of a disturbing social event. The result, however, seems to have been "a work of true satisfaction," as Stanley himself puts it. The recording was made with Cameron Graves, who said, "In recent years, I've been going back and forth between Stanley's band and Kamasi Washington's band," Beka Gothiashvili, a child prodigy from Georgia, and Mike Mitchell, a drummer from Texas.According to Stanley, "I am excited about this performance. The piece is funky, melodic, contemporary, musical, and richly infused with a variety of musical genres, making it fresh and new. It's a rich and fresh mix of different genres of music. The members of the band are young musicians with conventional spirits. Stanley returned to LA from Europe to arrange, orchestrate, and record additional tracks. The sound is based on a Return to Forever song from the early 70's, with a number like M2 featuring Cameron Graves' synths, an alembic bass (M5), and a number that explores the expressive possibilities of acoustic bass (M8), one song at a time. The album also features a hip opening and closing number featuring Doug E. Fresh's human beats, while also maintaining the traditional line of including one number each that explores the possibilities of acoustic bass (M8) and a number that explores the possibilities of acoustic bass expression. The album also features the superb acoustic piano solo of Beka Gothiashvili, who is said to be a child prodigy and came to New York from Georgia/Tbilisi. The piano on M7, for example, is also a treat to hear. These members also visited Japan in September 2015. This is a work with artists that Stanley fell in love with in the 2010s, and that he respects across generations.
