Alexander Mosolov, composer of the symphonic episode "The Iron Factory," known for its powerful compositions." Known as a leading figure in "Russian avant-garde music," especially in the 1920s, he was hailed as "a testament to the revolutionary spirit of the age," and the aforementioned "The Iron Works" gained worldwide recognition as a work that embodied subversiveism and machine worship. However, after being expelled from the Union of Soviet Composers, he was not only deprived of his activities, but also suffered severe persecution, including arrest and imprisonment in 1937 for "anti-Soviet propaganda" and forced labor for eight years. The Harp Concerto, one of the two works on this album, was written under difficult circumstances and influenced by the works of his teacher, Glière, and the harp plays elegant music while the orchestra creates a mournful atmosphere. Symphony No. 5" is his last major work, composed in 1965 after his mental rehabilitation. It is written in three movements in the classical style, with the first movement led by a majestic melody, the second movement with its ever-changing expression, and the violent final movement, in which he sings triumphantly at the end.
