Graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 1975 after studying with Genrich Neigaus and Lev Naumov, Petrushansky won prizes at the Leeds International Competition in 1969, the Munich International Competition in 1971, and the Casagrande International Competition in Terni in 1975, and has since emerged as a prize winner at major international competitions. Boris Petrushansky (1949-), a world-renowned pianist in the tradition of the Russian Piano School and a renowned teacher who has trained many great pianists, including Ingrid Fritter, was invited to perform at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Italy in February 2019. Petrushansky's recital is thoughtful and engaging from both a music historical and musical perspective, including style. Haydn's pre-Romantic variations, Schubert's moving and delicate improvisations, Prokofiev's thrilling Piano Sonata No. 6, and the encore, a concert paraphrase of La Campanella by Liszt, enthralled the audience at the Teatro La Fenice.
