The ballistic viewport, where included, matches the ballistic resistance level of the main shield body. Level IV shields are heavy enough that EDI-USA recommends pairing them with an optional trolley for extended deployments.

Weight and mobility

Standard half-body size measures 35.5" × 19.5" for vehicle storage and corridor movement. The full-body jumbo size measures 47" × 23.5" for maximum coverage during active threats or fixed-post protection. Custom dimensions are available for operators with specific spatial or vehicle-fitment requirements. Level IV shields are significantly heavier than Level III-A or III variants; a trolley accessory is available and recommended for sustained handheld use at that protection level.

Viewport and design features

An optional ballistic window (viewport) is included at no additional cost. The viewport is rated to the same ballistic level as the shield body, maintaining full threat coverage across the entire face of the shield. Shields are available in a shooters-cut style, with or without the ballistic window.

Handle configurations include standard, U-handle, and H-handle (horizontal) systems — specify left-hand, right-hand, or ambidextrous orientation at order time. Lateral lighting is available powered by rechargeable batteries. All EDI-USA Classic Ballistic Shields are fully compatible with FoxFury tactical shield flashlights, which attach via removable 3M Velcro or can be permanently installed during production. FoxFury lights use Li-Ion batteries.
