Description:
Mariusz Godlewski sings the third collection of Monieuszko's songs! Mariusz Godlewski, one of Poland's most famous baritones, will sing the third cycle of songs by Stanisław Moneuszko (1819-1872), a composer whose works the NIFC (National Institute of Chopin) is focusing its efforts on to rediscover and re-evaluate on the occasion of his 200th birthday in 2019. Monieuszko is known as the "father of Polish opera" and, along with Frederic Chopin, is one of Poland's most famous composers. In recent years, he has continued to release major operatic works on period instruments, and has also continued his song cycle. Continuing from the previous release (NIFCCD116), the songs are sung by Mariusz Godlewski, one of Poland's leading baritones, who is active in many Polish and international opera scenes and whose repertoire also includes German lieder and English baroque music. A Krall & Zeitler piano from 1864 is used in this recording, giving it a different sound from the previous recordings. Tokyo M-Plus
