PADI DEEP DIVER COURSE IN MALTA

At some point, most divers have an urge to dive deep - to explore a wreck, take photos, or simply to see what's there. Malta is the perfect place to do it, with legendary wrecks like the P29, Rozi, and Um El Faroud all accessible on the Deep Diver course.

There are greater potential hazards that come with diving deeper, and learning to recognise and deal with these risks is part of what you learn in the PADI Deep Diver Specialty course. Whatever your motivation, deep dives require planning and discipline in order to be enjoyed safely.

What do I need to start?

• Minimum PADI Adventure Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organisation)
• Minimum age: 15 years old

Before any in-water activity, you will complete a pre-dive medical form at our centre. Please check the Medical Form to see if you are fit to dive.

What will I do?

You'll learn deep dive planning, organisation, procedures, techniques, and hazards. You'll put this knowledge to the test across three open water dives ranging from 18–40 metres.

Please note: if you have not dived with us recently, you will need to complete a pleasure dive on your first day before starting the course. This allows you to become comfortable in the water with our equipment and ensures you are ready for your deeper dives.

Tips for deep diving

• Check your air and depth gauges more often than on shallower dives - you use air much faster at depth
• No-decompression limits are much shorter at depth, so pay close attention and don't get distracted
• Watch yourself and your buddy for any signs of nitrogen narcosis
• Consider using a dive computer to help you stay within the dive's limits
• The PADI Enriched Air Nitrox course pairs perfectly with deep diving by extending your no-decompression limits
• Build your experience gradually and be aware of your limits
• Use a dive light to add light and bring out the true colours absorbed by water at depth

3 dives over two days.

What next?

With your Deep Diver certification, you can now fully explore Malta's wrecks beyond 30m. Many divers combine this with the PADI Wreck Diver course to get the most out of Malta's incredible wreck diving.
