Additional Details: The original Botero poster titled Marie Antoinette d'après Vigeé Le Brun (1970) pays homage to Élisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun’s famous portrait of Marie Antoinette, Queen of France. However, in typical Fernando Botero fashion, this image is a reinterpretation through his unique artistic lens, characterized by his signature volumetric, exaggerated figures.
This piece was created for Botero’s exhibition held at the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, a key venue for modern and contemporary art in Germany. During this period, Botero was gaining international recognition, and his works were becoming central to discussions on modern reinterpretations of European classical art.
