OMER KLEIN is an Israeli-born jazz artist currently based in Germany, celebrating his trio's 10th anniversary with his latest release, "LIFE&FIRE", a multifaceted mosaic of musical and cultural elements, which delivers a strong message of unity behind the diversity. An album that passionately celebrates life, with a message of unity behind the diversity! The Israeli artists are currently gaining attention as a new force in the jazz scene. One such artist is Omer Klein, who is currently based in Germany after having worked in New York. The trio he formed with fellow countrymen Amir Breslter (dr.) and Haggai Cohen-Milo (b.) has just released a new album on Warner Music Germany. LIFE&FIRE is the trio's first new studio album since 2019's RADIO MEDITERAN, and the fifth album in total for the trio consisting of Klien, Brestler, and Cohen-Milo, which also celebrates their 10th anniversary. This is also a celebration of the trio's 10th anniversary.In creating an album to be released in this memorable year, they set forth several clear "principles": (1) It had to be fun, (2) It had to be a good time, and (3) It had to be a great experience. They were: (1) It had to be fun, (2) It was a birthday party, so get your friends involved, and (3) It had to be a good time. (2) Involve friends, because it is a birthday party. (3) To celebrate anniversaries, we must find fresh ways to honor the past and connect to the future. From these three themes, Klein found the basic direction for this work. We decided to go into a small studio where we could all record in the same space, without headphones." For half of the songs on the record, we'll show a fresh take on something we've played more times than we can count. Then we'll invite our friends over and record them all around us," he explains of that direction. All of the songs on the album were written by Klein. Ten years later, Klein, Brestler, and Cohen-Milo are more than friends; Klein is also the father of three children. This is a film in which memory and the future exist side by side.Klein's music is full of optimism, actively scratching the present for the future. The album also features "Niggun," a song that has already become a favorite in the trio's live shows, which incorporates North African and Latin American grooves with a nod to Jewish folk music. I was born in Israel, which has been a melting pot of peoples from all over the world since its founding. My parents are from Eastern Europe and North Africa. As Klein describes his background, "I have been immersed in American and Brazilian music since I was a teenager, as well as the music of the great European classical composers. The work sends out a strong message of unity behind the diversity. LIFE & FIRE is a window into the present for the sake of permanence. This magnificent explosion of life expresses all of the events, experiences, and ideas that have surrounded the trio over the past two years, without asking the listener to explain or preach. As the title suggests, this album is a passionate celebration of life.
