Gevorkian Winery Ariats 2022 Kangoun Carbonic Karasi Natural Wine – Ararat Valley, Armenia
100% Kangoun | Natural Wine | Carbonic Maceration | Karasi (Amphora) Fermented
Description & Tasting Notes
Experience a bold expression of Armenian terroir with the Ariats 2022 Kangoun Carbonic Karasi Natural Wine by Gevorkian Winery — a groundbreaking natural white wine crafted using carbonic maceration and traditional Karasi (amphora) fermentation. Made from the indigenous Kangoun grape grown in the fertile Ararat Valley, this limited-production wine represents the harmony of ancient methods and modern natural winemaking.
Carbonic maceration is a natural fermentation technique where whole grapes are fermented in a carbon dioxide-rich environment before being crushed. This process enhances the wine’s fruit-forward character, creates soft tannins, and introduces playful, lifted aromatics — often resulting in wines that are fresh, juicy, and vibrant, with minimal bitterness and maximum drinkability.
Natural wine is made with minimal intervention in both the vineyard and winery. Grapes are farmed organically or biodynamically, and the winemaking avoids additives, artificial yeasts, fining agents, or excessive sulfites. The result is a living wine, full of energy, complexity, and authenticity — a pure reflection of grape, place, and time.
Pairs beautifully with grilled white fish, Mediterranean mezze, fresh goat cheese, herbed salads, or Armenian lavash with soft cheeses. Serve slightly chilled to bring out its refreshing aromatics and minerality.
