Why this kit matters
The Mercedes-Benz Typ 770K (W150) was introduced by Daimler-Benz in 1938 as the flagship luxury car of the company’s pre-war range. Powered by a large eight-cylinder engine producing 155 horsepower, or up to 230 horsepower with its supercharger engaged, the vehicle was designed to transport high-ranking officials in comfort and prestige. Its imposing size, long bonnet, and elegant body made it one of the most recognisable official cars of the period.
Only 88 units of the W150 series were produced between 1938 and 1943, making it a rare automobile even during its time. Around 46 of these were built as open-top Tourenwagen versions, often used in official parades and ceremonial events. Some vehicles were fitted with armour for added protection. This model kit recreates that iconic open touring version, giving modellers the chance to build a historically significant vehicle often seen in wartime photographs and period newsreels.
