Description:

Miles Davis, the king of the modern jazz scene, has been creating new jazz music at the forefront of the times since his solo debut in 1947, leading the jazz scene by nurturing and debuting many young musicians. Even after his death, he continues to influence musicians in various genres and is greatly respected as a jazz musician. In July 1964, Miles Davis made his long-awaited first visit to Japan. <In July 1964, Miles Davis made his long-awaited first tour of Japan, starting with a performance in Nagoya on July 10 and ending with a performance in Kyoto on July 15. The two performances in Tokyo and the final performance in Kyoto were recorded live, and the material from Kosei-Nenkin Kaikan in Tokyo on July 14 was released as an official product about five years later in 1969. The remaining two performances, however, were only partially broadcast on PBS in the U.S., and were left in storage. This time, the PBS broadcast material was used for the release. The lineup features the strongest lineup of Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, and Tony Williams, with Sam Rivers, who newly joined the band after being introduced by Tony Williams, replacing George Coleman. Sam Rivers' unique horn playing gives a new impact to Miles Davis' unit, and he delivers an emotional performance. The audio quality is not as good as it could be due to the fact that the material has not been officially mixed, but the passionate performance here is more than enough to make it a great listen! Imported Japanese version Miles Davis (tp), Sam Rivers (sax), Herbie Hancock (p), Ron Carter (b), Tony Williams (ds)
