Description:

The term "southern Germany" in this album refers to a wide area that includes the southern part of the German-speaking world, from parts of Austria and Switzerland to parts of the Eastern European region of Poland, Bohemia, and Transylvania. This six-disc box set includes organ works by composers active in the region during the 16th and 17th centuries, as well as the "Buxheim Organ Collection" (a collection of 256 pieces that were handed down from the monastery of Buxheim in Bavaria, mostly unknown), which was established around 1460-70. Most of the composer's names are unknown). This valuable box traces the tradition of organ music in southern Germany. Kelemen, who performs, has been studying and performing church music of this region since 1986, and this BOX is the result of many years of research. Naxos Japan
