One of New Zealand's famous hikes crosses the country's entire length, the mesmerizing Te Araroa. In the native Maori language, Te Araroa means The Long Path, and it certainly is as the trail stretches over a length of 3000 km/ 1900 miles. The Te Araroa trail starts from Cape Reinga on the North Island and finishes all the way in Bluff on the South Island. The Te Araroa North Island trail is just over 1600km/ 995miles and leads you along coastal sands, rugged volcanoes, friendly farmland, and beautiful ridgelines. On the South Island, you are welcomed by breathtaking national parks, impressive mountain passes, and high-country stations over a length of just under 1400 km/ 870 miles.
