Description:

The latest CD project of the AIMP, a collection held by the Geneva Museum of Ethnology! This is the latest CD release from the world music collection "AIMP" held by the Geneva Museum of Ethnology in Switzerland. The collection contains rare field recordings from Cote d'Ivoire, West Africa, which were previously stored in the museum. The organic, minimalist, and direct presence of the back alleys of a foreign country simply nails it. This is the latest CD release from AIMP, the world music collection of the Geneva Museum of Ethnology in Switzerland, which, along with Folkways and Okola, has long been a favorite among avid world music enthusiasts. The collection includes field recordings made in the 1970s in Bouaké, the second largest city in Côte d'Ivoire, West Africa. The music includes heroic hymns, festive music, xylophone ensembles, flute solos, and songs with a musical bow in the background, all performed by the Senufo and Bobo tribes. The recording was made by anthropologist Bernard Mondet. From the mid to late 1970s, Mondet traveled to Ivory Coast, Ghana, Mali, Guinea, Burkina Faso, and other countries to make field recordings. The tapes were once used in UNESCO's "Complete Collection of World Folk Music" series.Monde's precious collection, donated to the Geneva Museum of Ethnology, has been digitized by the museum from the original tapes and is now finally available! The organic and minimalist tones, and the vivid presence of the sounds blended here and there, make this a truly rewarding listening experience.
