NBR is generally compatible with mineral-based oils, ATF, and most common gear oils. Compatibility with fully synthetic PAO or ester-based fluids varies — in most cases NBR performs adequately, but prolonged exposure to aggressive synthetics may cause slight swelling. Verify fluid compatibility with your specific oil before installation, or contact us if you are unsure.
Clean the housing bore and shaft. Lightly lubricate the seal lip with the fluid being sealed. Press the seal squarely into the bore using a seal driver or a flat plate — never hammer directly on the seal face. Ensure the primary lip faces the oil side and the dust lip faces outward. Check that the seal sits flush or just below the housing face.
