Striking black silk 'tuxedo' dress by Christian Lacroix, complete with large crystal button detail. This form fitting dress has a very wide, almost bardot style collar, reminiscent of the chic evening wear styles of the 1950s. The front is cut in a classic double breasted style, finished with six large buttons in an array of orange, purple, red and green crystals with a central black stone in the middle. The inside of the dress is lined in a very fine and soft black silk, making it extra comfortable for the wearer. The sleeves can be opened via a concealed zipper at each cuff, and the silhouette widens slightly at the hip due to the pleated detail in the skirt, narrowing again to create a flattering pencil shape at the hem.

The tuxedo dress is in wonderful vintage condition with no faults or stains to note. It would best fit a size 10-12 UK, or 6-8 US. Our model is a UK 10 US 6 and 5'9" and this dress was a great fit on her with some room to spare.

After some painstaking research we are attributing this dress to the Fall/Winter Collection of 1991 and shown here is an almost identical jacket design with the same buttons. Lacroix's mainline collections were produced in very limited numbers and made to almost the same level as his haute couture lines. We hold many pieces in our warehouse and continue to acquire archival pieces from important collections.
