Ang (Angel) by Elizabeth Peyton is a signed etching on Twinrocker paper from 2024, depicting Ang Tshering Lama from Nepal. The composition dissolves the face into gestural, ink-dark marks against the warm cream of the handmade sheet — recognisable as a portrait, yet resistant to easy resolution, the image emerging and retreating in equal measure.

Peyton has described printmaking as generative rather than secondary: "Often I'll make a work after something I make in the print studio." The limited edition print reflects that — direct, unguarded, and characteristic of the sustained attention to individual subjects that has defined her practice since the early 1990s.
