Lost Lantern hand-selected this cask from Dread River Distilling Co. in Birmingham, Alabama. Named for a fabled underground river beneath the city, Dread River is the first distillery in downtown Birmingham in a century. One of the most ambitious young distilleries in the Deep South, Dread River dedicates itself to making spirits that reflect the city of Birmingham.

This straight bourbon whiskey was made from 60% white corn, 30% winter wheat, and 10% malted barley and was aged for 6 years in a 53-gallon barrel. Bold, deep, and powerful, it is big, chocolatey and leathery on the nose. It has notes of dried clove, heavy oak, nutmeg, pomegranate, and baking spice on the palate. Powerful, with great complexity, it is our first whiskey from Dread River and from the state of Alabama.
