For over a century, Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) stood as the U.S. Army's most storied medical institution — a place where soldiers healed, where history was made, and where the nation's commitment to its warriors was measured in care, sacrifice, and service.

Established in 1909 and named in honor of Major Walter Reed (1851–1902) — the Army physician whose groundbreaking research proved that yellow fever is transmitted by mosquitoes — WRAMC grew from an 80-bed facility into a sprawling 113-acre campus in the heart of Washington, D.C., serving more than 150,000 active and retired military personnel across all branches of service.

In 2011, WRAMC merged with the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, to form the tri-service Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) — carrying forward a legacy of excellence that defined American military medicine for over a century.
