Common Name: Blue Flax Lily or Paroo Lily

Dianella caerulea is also known as Blue Flax Lily or Paroo Lily. This small evergreen native grass features dark green strappy foliage throughout the year.  Blue flowers are held above the foliage in spring, followed in summer by edible indigo blue berries. Dianella are a clumping spreading type of plant and this long lived grass is drought and frost hardy, copes well in nearly every type of soil and is well suited for coastal conditions. Suitable to all but tropical climates, Dianella will grow well and thrive in most areas. Plants can be cut back to tidy up but can also be left to be completely maintenance free.
