This setup prevents messy krausen blow-outs that can occur when a standard airlock becomes clogged with foam and hop particles.
Technician's Installation Tip: For the best seal, ensure the carboy neck is completely dry before sliding the hood on. If the fit is tight, a tiny amount of Star San solution can act as a lubricant. Use 1/2" ID tubing for the blow-off port and submerge the other end in a jar of sanitizer. This allows CO2 and excess foam to escape safely without building up pressure.
