Issued in 1948, this Romanian semi-postal set honors the Federația Democrată a Femeilor din România (Democratic Federation of Women of Romania). Each design features rural and working-class women engaged in traditional and productive roles — harvesting grain, weaving at a loom, spinning thread, and riding horseback across the Carpathians. The surtax on each denomination supported women’s social and welfare programs in the early post-war years.
