Alexander Wilson (July 6, 1766 – August 23, 1813) was a Scottish-American poet, ornithologist, naturalist, and illustrator. Identified by George Ord as the “Father of American Ornithology,” Wilson is now regarded as the greatest American ornithologist before Audubon. Several species of bird are named after Wilson, including the Wilson’s storm-petrel, Wilson’s plover, Wilson’s phalarope, Wilson’s snipe, and Wilson’s warbler. These birdhouses are made using the same type of aluminum used for some outdoor signs and novelty licence plates (like those for colleges, clubs, or ball teams). They are UV stabilized and will never rust. Hang in dappled sun or full shade for happy birds and long lasting colors. Ventilation under the protection of the eaves and in the floor allow air flow through-out. The roof is removable for easy access to clean out old nesting material.
