This stamp was issued by Katanga, the short-lived secessionist state in the Congo during the early 1960s. The design depicts traditional African wooden tribal sculptures, reflecting the region’s rich cultural and artistic heritage. Printed by the renowned Swiss security printer Courvoisier S.A., the stamp features a denomination of 2 Francs and was part of the early postal issues of the Katanga administration. Because Katanga existed only briefly (1960–1963), its stamps are historically interesting to collectors of African and political-history philately.
