A charming antique French mantel clock made in the form of an early English lantern clock, featuring a brass case with pierced Gothic Revival galleries, domed bell top and engraved Roman numeral dial. The movement is clearly stamped "Made In France", indicating French manufacture for the British export market.

The movement appears to be a spring-driven timepiece dating from approximately 1890–1920. The simple stamped brass movement and rear adjustment mechanism are typical of late Victorian to early twentieth-century French clock production, when decorative lantern clock revivals became highly fashionable. Although inspired by seventeenth-century lantern clocks, this example is a decorative mantel-sized interpretation rather than a true weight-driven lantern clock.

The clock retains an attractive aged patina throughout, with a beautifully worn dial showing floral engraving and Roman numerals. The pierced galleries and turned finials give it excellent decorative presence, making it an ideal piece for a study, bookshelf, mantelpiece or cabinet of curiosities display.

The clock is currently non-functioning and is being sold as a decorative antique requiring attention or restoration. Cosmetic wear, age-related marks and patination are present throughout and contribute to its character.
