This French antique yellow 18k gold love charm pendant features a rebus spelling out the love sentiment: "Plus qu‘hier, moins que demain" ("More than yesterday, less than tomorrow") - a line taken from the love poem written by Rosemonde Gerard to her husband (the author of Cyrano) in 1889.
This is a mid-century example of the tokens created by Alphonse Augis in 1907 in response to Gerard's poem, signed A.A, and stamped with the eagle head signifying French manufacture, 18 karat gold and Augis made.
