This piece pulls from Kerman court tradition — south-central Iran, the city that gave its name to the Lavar Kerman fine weave of the late 1800s. Kerman weavers worked a softer, more painterly idiom than their Heriz cousins in the northwest: where Heriz reads as village geometry (the rectilinear medallion-in-a-rectangle that anchors our Dark Gray cohort opener), Kerman reads as court refinement — fluid floral arabesque, narrower palette, the medallion held inside ivory tracery rather than declared in red and indigo.

That difference matters when you're choosing between siblings. The Dark Gray anchor commands a room through architectural weight. This Kerman-register sibling does the opposite — it composes a room by lowering the volume.
