"Caffeine 4pm" is a photograph of caffeine crystals taken through the microscope. Caffeine which is found naturally in the seeds, nuts, or leaves of a number of plants native to Africa, East Asia and South America. The crystals were grown by evaporation of a solution on a glass microscope slide. The crystal facets create the colors naturally by refraction of the transmitted light.
