This striking Greek stamp, issued in 1930, features the historic Monastery of Saint John the Theologian on the island of Patmos. Rendered in a detailed engraved style, it showcases the imposing fortified monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Greece’s most important religious landmarks. The inscription in Greek reads “Η ΕΝ ΠΑΤΜΩ ΜΟΝΗ ΙΩΑΝΝΟΥ ΤΟΥ ΘΕΟΛΟΓΟΥ” (“The Monastery of Saint John the Theologian in Patmos”). With a high face value of 100 drachmai, it was part of the "Historical and Monastery" definitive series. A must-have for collectors of Greek heritage and architectural themes, this issue reflects both religious and cultural significance in Hellenic philately.
