These watches are the predecessor to the current model, they are identical in visual appearance the only difference is that these watches have a K1 crystal and the current models have a sapphire crystal, other than that they are exactly the same but are substantially reduced because a handful of this older model were found during a stock check.

Inspired by the military aviation watches of the 1940s and 50s, the MWC Classic Aviator range blends historical authenticity with modern reliability. Earlier wartime models often used a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, while designs from around 1943 onward transitioned to a sweep second hand — the style featured on this model. These variations allow collectors to choose the period look that suits them best.

About K1 Crystal

K1 is a hybrid material combining mineral glass with a synthetic sapphire outer layer. It offers significantly better scratch resistance than standard mineral glass while maintaining excellent shatter resistance — particularly useful on oversized watches.

We originally adopted K1 in 2018 because it delivered a strong balance of durability and cost-efficiency. Well-known brands, including Seiko, use similar glass (often branded as Hardlex) on many of their dive watches. It’s a proven, reliable material.

However, we have now begun transitioning our entire large Aviator range to full sapphire crystals to further enhance durability and long-term performance.
