This United States postal card was issued in 1973 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first U.S. postal card introduced in 1873. The design features a 6¢ red indicium with a classical female head, styled similarly to early postal card imprints, along with decorative scroll lettering reading “United States Postal Card.” A note at the lower left reads “First U.S. Postal Card Adapted to Commemorate Its 100th Anniversary 1873–1973.” As a piece of postal stationery rather than a separate stamp, the postage is pre-printed on the card. Unused examples like this are especially desirable for collectors of U.S. postal stationery and postal history.
