Bromelain is a dynamic complex of proteolytic enzymes, which are enzymes that break down proteins into various amino acids during digestion. Bromelain is isolated and concentrated from the stem of the pineapple plant. Pineapple has been used for centuries throughout South and Central America, particularly for its digestive and culinary properties. Today, bromelain is recognized as one of the key active compounds found in the pineapple stem. Bromelain’s enzyme activity is measured in two standard ways: gelatin-digesting units (GDUs) and milk-clotting units (MCUs). The measurement of activity is based on how much one gram of the enzyme will digest. The higher the number of GDUs and MCUs, the greater the enzyme activity is.

Bromelain Extra Strength contains 1000 GDU of enzyme activity per gram, offering a higher amount of enzyme activity per capsule than standard formulas. It is delivered in convenient, non-GMO, gluten-free capsules to be taken once daily with food.

Recommended adult dose: 1 capsule daily, taken with food, or as directed by a health care practitioner. Consult a health care practitioner for prolonged use.
