Unit Heritage

The 6th Cavalry Brigade provided aviation support to the 2nd Infantry Division and the Eighth U.S. Army. Its 1st Squadron was later reactivated under the 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. The 3rd Squadron was reassigned to the 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade — carrying the mission forward.
