I recently found another postcard featuring a baby having just spilled a bottle of black ink all over the place, which led me to learn that images of babies spilling and dropping things (usually in tears) seems to have been a bit of a thing in the early years of the 20th century. I really love the graphic nature of this one, with super high high chair and that great blue pattern on the baby's dress. Plus that face!  I am also rather intrigued by the cracked object on the floor--a broken milk bottle? Or a cracked egg on a string???

I believe this is printed rather than hand-drawn, though the blue of the dress and pink of the skin may be hand-colored, and it is on a matte wove type stock. French, very early 1900s, with the initials of the artist, P.L. on the unused reverse.

Very good condition, with a little blue smudge on the forehead of the baby and  few small dark marks on the reverse. 3 1/2" x 5 1/2".
