Berberine is a naturally occurring alkaloid found in barberry and other medicinal plants. It has been used for thousands of years in traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda. Awareness around berberine is on the rise as many studies indicate a positive impact on metabolic health, targeting key health concerns of adults by contributing to healthy glucose metabolism, healthy triglycerides, total cholesterol, and LDL cholesterol.

When taken in its standard form, berberine’s clinical significance is severely limited by its low bioavailability. During digestion, very little berberine is absorbed through the intestines.
